RUMORS OF A NEW "DISLIKE" BUTTON ON X PLATFORM
Despite X has not yet released an official statement, the introduction of a new "Dislike" button seems imminent.
This implementation is meant to classify content and it is said to have a design resembling a broken heart icon located next to the "Like" button in the shape of a heart. It is not the first time the platform, once known as Twitter, has tested a downvoting system. Already in 2021, before the acquisition by Elon Musk, a similar system was tested.
NEW BUTTON DISCOVERED IN CODE
The first clues of a new button were discovered by Aaron Perris, a well-known reverse engineer with the nickname @aaronp613. He found in the code of the X iOS App portions of code that seemed to refer to a potential Dislike button.
According to Perris, there are already strings that indicate X could ask for confirmation for a negative vote. Not only that, the references seem to talk about posts and not responses. Therefore, it is not yet clear if the Social Network wants to adopt the button on all posts or only on responses.
THE "DISLIKE" BUTTON HAS BEEN REPORTED BY SEVERAL USERS
Aaron Perris’s report is not the only one mentioning this potential implementation. The user @P4mui, in fact, has reported even more tangible evidence of X’s intentions.
In this case, we are talking about a Video in which, through the activation of a flag, the Dislike button was activated. In this case, the button was found to appear only on responses and not on the main posts.
And these reports are not the only ones. Everything suggests that, in a short time, this new button could actually appear on the platform.
